How to use the planner
  1. Create a Layout (step 1). Name a new plan, or open one you made before. Your plans are kept in this browser and save automatically as you work.
  2. Build & close the loop (step 2). Pick a module on the left and it joins onto the selected blue +. Keep picking modules to build a whole run. Click any blue +, or click a module at the end of a run, to choose where the next one goes. Modules that can't physically fit there are greyed out.
  3. Place a module yourself. With nothing selected, pick a module and it follows your mouse: bring one of its track ends near a blue + and click to join, or click anywhere clear to set it down. Esc cancels. (On a phone or tablet it appears beside your plan; drag it into place.)
  4. Move and join. Drag a module, or a joined run, by any part of it. When one of its track ends comes within about 6″ of an open end, an outline shows where it will join: green joins, amber ⇄ joins as a crossover, red is blocked by a module in the way (let go and it goes back). A single loose module turns itself to fit.
  5. Turn, change, detach. Click a module to select it. Use the turn arrows (or R) to turn its run 90°, change a straight's depth, or Delete it. Double-click a module, or use Detach, to free it from its neighbours.
  6. Curves and crossovers. Which end of a curve you bring up decides how it joins: the matching end joins Red to Red; the other end makes a crossover (⇄), where the Red line continues as the Yellow line. Curve the other way swaps a curve joined at one end. Red and Yellow are electrically joined at a crossover, so a short circuit is possible: isolate the crossed-over section from the layout bus.
  7. Junctions and inside corners. A Junction turns the Yellow track to the back so a second line can branch off; Junctions are 22.7 mm shorter than a Double, so place them opposite each other (back to back across the table). Inside corners turn toward the front, for L and U shaped layouts.
  8. Plan Status Checklist. The signal under the plan shows how your plan stands: green, amber or red. Show Details lists each check (track closes, Red and Yellow match, fit at the joints, modules clear, wiring, complete loops, modules in a loop) with Show me links. A loop that misses by a few millimetres closes if its joints can take it up, the normal play in T-TRAK joints.
  9. Order & Share (step 3). The parts list under the plan totals your modules; untick or change quantities for any you already own, then add them to the cart. Copy share link (above the plan, or in Share your plan) copies a link: anyone who clicks it gets their own copy of your plan.Copy plan code (above the plan, or in Share your plan) copies a short message with a code for your plan; paste it in an email, and the other person pastes it into their planner. To open a plan someone sent you, use My plans → Open a shared plan and paste their link or code. Save image saves a picture of the plan, with or without the checklist.
  10. Your plans are private. Plans are stored only in this browser on this device; the planner never sends them to Precision Model Railroad. A share link carries the plan inside the link itself (after the #, the part of a link browsers never send to a website), so even a shared plan does not reach us.A plan code carries the plan inside the code itself. The planner only reads our public product list for prices and stock, and talks to your cart when you click Add to cart. Clearing your browser data deletes your plans, so copy a share linkcopy a plan code to keep a backup.
  11. Personal Layout. Adds the 2 End Caps + 2 Singles of the Personal N Scale Layout kit. Kit modules keep their Personal Layout label wherever you move them and are ordered as the kit; kit Singles are always 12″ deep.

Track colours follow the T-TRAK standard: Red is the front track, Yellow the back track. Modules join Red to Red and Yellow to Yellow, except at a crossover.

Keyboard: R / Shift+R turn, Del delete, F fit plan, Ctrl+Z undo, Ctrl+Y redo, Esc deselect or cancel. Scroll or pinch to zoom; drag the background to pan.
